Our top of the line Aviation Headset in ANR performance designed for the quality conscious consumer. The PA-1779T takes full advantage of closer tolerance military components providing an additional 18-22dB of active noise cancellation at 100 Hz. The headset is the only self-contained ANR in the industry with a rechargeable nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery and standard 110V wall charger (230V European wall charger available by request). It is also the only headset to be worn in both USA (International Space Station- panel mounted version) and Russian (MIR-rechargeable battery version) space programs. No other ANR Headset manufacturer can say that!

For added comfort, the headset is fitted with a sheepskin fleece head pad and Pilot USA's proprietary silicone gel ear seals (30% less weight than normal gel ear seals). A padded protective case is included. The PA-1779T Aviation Headset comes equipped with our new Auto On/Auto Shut-Off proprietary circuitry. The ANR will shut-off automatically when the unit is unplugged from the aircraft or the avionics master switch is turned off. This will conserve your battery charge life, enabling longer use between charges. The headset will automatically turn on when it is plugged in and the radio is turned on.

The headset is cell/satellite phone capable, and has a “true stereo” input jack so that the user can listen to music from a CD player, IPOD®, MP3® or external radio. The cell phone system is designed to work with either newer “Smartphones” that use a 3.5mm (4 conductor) input or older phones that use a 2.5mm input.

Info about the diffrent versions:

The PA-1779T is the standard GA version (dual plug) of the headset that uses an internal rechargeable battery to power the ANR.

The PA-1779TP is a panel mounted version (no internal battery) that has the GA dual plugs but has an extra 3.5mm plug to get power from the aircraft. This model comes with a 3.5mm input jack to be installed in to your aircraft and a spare battery box to be able to use the headset by 9V battery power if you use the headset some where panel power is not available.

The PA-1779TB is also a panel mounted version but it uses the 6 pin male Lemo connector for mic, audio and power from the aircraft. The 6 pin female connector (not provided) must be installed in your aircraft to utilize this version.

The PA-1779TP and PA-1779TB are both about 3 ounces lighter in weight than the standard PA-1779T due to the fact that there is no internal battery in the headset.

Have used this headset for about 12 hours now, including during my CFI initiall checkride. (I passed).
There have been several flights that I have forgotten to turn on the ANR which shows how good they work in passive.
Active is a true pleasure to use in my Cherokee 180.
The other true benefit of this headset is the light weight,

I have owned these headsets for about 4 years now and they are wonderful. They are extremely comfortable...more so than David Clarks. Also, I can't say enough about the costumer service. What an incredible Pilot team. They are always willing to help with any issues you may have. Thanks for such great service!

I've had 2 sets of these in our Skylane for at least 15 years. They have performed perfectly and are still using their original rechargeable batteries. They don't have all the new bells and whistles but sure make our long trips a lot more pleasant. If I needed new ones I'd certainly give Pilot strong consideration.

My only need for service was after I dropped one and needed a repair--service was quick and correct and very friendly. Thanks Pilot.

Better than BoseReview by Ray21q on on 9/15/2014

I have an early version (12 plus years) in my Mooney and couldn't be happier with it. A few years ago I bought a Bose A10 for my wife because I thought she would like the low clamping pressure. I tried it for a while but preferred my Pilot headset. One time when using the Bose, the batteries died just after take off and proved how poor the A10 is in passive only mode. It was so bad I wasn't sure I would be able to hear the controllers. As for ANR, the Pilot is equal or better in my opinion. Mine has the simple connector for panel power which makes it quick and easy (read cheap) to tie into the ships power versus the not easy Lemo plug. I'll keep my Pilot headset, the Bose stays the right side.

Service and support from Pilot-USA has always been outstanding. After many years, and 1400 hours, of service I sent my headset in for reconditioning and it was promptly returned as good as new.

In my opinion they make the best headset on the market, and at the best value too.

filters alternator noise etc.Review by Antonio on on 7/29/2014

its very effective in practically eliminating or highly attenuating unwanted noise like alternator, wind and engine/prop noise,
it surprises you when on a long high speed approach, with the opening of the mike to transmit, how loud the cabin is due to the high speed, but prior to opening the mike it was just pleasantly quiet. my friend has the more expensive lightSPd they don't seem to do better at quieting the alternator etc. in fact he has the wine all the time.
battery usually last at least 10 hours but I recharge prior anyway the clamping force is a little high but not a deal breaker

The PA-1779 is my second Pilot USA headset. My original PA-1776 served me well for a number of years. I was attracted to it because of it much lower price than the big name noise cancelling headsets. I was happy with its performance and had it refurbished for a reasonable cost. I also had to replace a broken cable and the price was reasonable. I later bought the 1779 model since I was attracted to the new features in this headset like the automatic shut off of the headset when the master switch in the aircraft is turned off. The feature I liked in both headsets is the rechargeable battery. Most of of the other ANR headsets require batteries which results in more weight and inconvenience. Customer service is always great and free replacement of a microphone element when I felt that ATC was having difficulty hearing me. I recently purchased new ear seals after 7 years for a very reasonable price.

I bought my first 1779T about 7 years ago to use in my RV-4. I was so pleased with it that I bought a second one for the rear seat. After I built my F-1 Evo Rocket that has a VERY LOUD IO-540, I equipped it with 2 1779T's from the outset. I am particularly pleased on how they reduce the noise in the ANR mode. But they are also very good at reducing the noise level in the passive mode. Just for grins I have tried a Bose and a Lightspeed Zulu that were owned by other pilots I know and the 1179T is at least as good in the ANR mode and MUCH better in the passive mode than either the Bose or the Zulu. The 1779T is positively a great buy in any respect and especially for the price.

Had an older model but really needed a unit with a cell phone adapter. The 1779T provided that capability with a simple single wire connection from the headset to my cell phone. The ANR feature seems to be better on the new unit and it is more comfortable although it looks just like the older unit except for the color. The auto shut-off feature is another nice addition for those of us who can never remember to shut the ANR off.

Customer service has been exceptional!

Great headset and great price.Review by Rodney on on 10/29/2013

I discovered this headset while at the Sun n Fun fly in at Lakeland linder airfield, Lakeland, FL. With all the booths there and all the choices and big names it was quite overwhelming for a novice pilot such as myself. The representative was friendly and helpful and not pushy at all. I listened to many headsets that day and all different prices, I couldn't tell any noticeable difference in noise reduction and in fact the Pilot-USA brand beat some of the higher priced models the other guys had.

What got me to buy this model was price, the fact that it has built in rechargeable battery, and its American made. Also I just prefer the cup your ear models over the in your ear kind. Also if the battery dies, it still works as a passive headset, many others do not.

I give it 4 stars for quality only because when it arrived, it had a bad mic element and I had to return it but all fixed now, I'm sure its an isolated event. 5 stars for everything else though and would suggest their should be one more catagory to rate, customer service, that would also be 5 stars too.
