This entry level passive headset has more features than many of our competition’s high-end headsets. Durable and robust, this is a great headset for the beginning pilot, passengers, or a pilot on a budget.
The PA-1169T comes equipped with an electret noise canceling microphone on a half metal/half flex mic boom. The headset provides mono/stereo capability and dual volume controls for individual adjustments on each ear cup. The headset is equipped with foam ear seals and a foam headpad and come with a padded headset bag.
The headset is cell/satellite phone capable, and has a “true stereo” input jack so that the user can listen to music from a CD player, IPOD®, MP3® or external radio. The cell phone system is designed to work with either newer “Smartphones” that use a 3.5mm (4 conductor) input or older phones that use a 2.5mm input.
The unique black and gray ear cups are accented with chrome hardware.

Issues to be aware ofReview by chrusion on on 3/12/2016

I agree with all the positive reviews, however, just so you are aware, the mic must have constant bias voltage/phantom power (as supplied by an intercom system) in order to use the cell phone feature. However, for some LSA and ultralights that don't have an intercom and use only a handheld radio, the mic is powered only during transmission, thus it is impossible to use the headset to make calls, unless you want to hold the transmit button down the whole time for the world to hear.
With a mono radio and setting the headset's cord-mounted mode switch to mono, the external input for a phone/mp3 player remains stereo. IOW, the switch is only for selecting the type of radio input, not for "mixing" the headphone speakers together. If you set the switch to stereo with a mono radio input, the radio is heard only in the mic mounted earcup.
Be aware that some handheld radios, like the Icom A4, expect an 8 ohm speaker load, not 300, so the radio volume is significantly reduced and requires turning the radio's volume almost to full.
Initial reports during my first use of this unit in a VERY LOUD open air cockpit (ultralight with only a windshield) was that the supplied mic picked me up clearly despite the screaming Rotax 503 engine a few feet up front. The engine noise was clearly heard, but did not drown out my voice. Likewise, I was able to clearly hear radio comms over the engine noise leaking through the foam ear cup pads. Gel ear pads will probably seal out more noise.
Lots of features for a good priceReview by Flyboy on on 8/21/2014

I was very surprised to find a headset in the low $100's that had the features that the 1169T has. I really like the fact that it has a cell phone input that I use with my iPhone. I fly my 1946 Champ out of an uncontrolled field so I call on my phone for clearance and it works great using the headset.
