Pilot USA was pressed into production at its new manufacturing facility in Costa Mesa, California to supply FEMA and several helicopter firms with cell/satellite phone adapters that were used in air-to-ground and ground-to-air operations. Hurricane Katrina had blown down many of the cell phone repeater sites and satellite phones were the only effective means of communicating on the ground. Satellite phones were also used by the Coast Guard and Air National Guard to communicate with rescue personnel on the ground.

Pilot USA’s cell/satellite phone adapters have recently been used worldwide in other catastrophic events in recent months including major earthquakes when normal telephone and cell phone service was knocked out. Pilot USA also has a growing number of movie production companies that have purchased the adapters for filming in isolated locations where cell phone service is not available.
