Pilot Freedom headset debuted on July 4, 1997, and carries the product number PA-1776. Freedom is a Direct Noise Cancelling headset with digital signal processor circuitry in Pilot Enhanced Voice Intelligibility (EVI) integrated circuit.
The headset is named for the freedom granted to the pilot in its use. Powered by a rechargeable nickel metal hydride battery housed in the ear cup, the Freedom has no extra cords or plugs and there is no need for a cigarette lighter adapter or costly panel installation. A sheepskin Soft Top headpad from Oregon Aero guarantees comfort.
When used solely for hearing protection, the comm-cord is detachable from the headset. The EVI circuitry provides freedom from inaudible ATC transmissions. Weighing just 12.1 ounces, the Freedom headset provides 15-18dB noise reduction in addition to the passive Noise Reduction Rating (NRR) of 25dB.
The Freedom headset is manufactured in the United States with 100% military specification components and comes with an unconditional five-year warranty. The suggested list price for Freedom is $599. For more information, contact Pilot at (800)731-0790
