PILOT INTRODUCES NEW INDEPENDENCE ANR HEADSET
Pilot is introducing at the Aircraft Electronics Association’s 41st Annual Convention & Trade Show (April 7-10), in Orlando, Florida, what it considers to be the quietest active noise cancelling headset in the aviation industry. The new Independence DNC XL has improved passive noise attenuation and battery life has been increased to 35-45 hours on a full charge. Originally designed for the military and for helicopter operators and now available for general aviation, the matte black PA 17-79 headset has been updated with a more sophisticated designed electronics package using closer tolerance mil-spec components. The military spec’d headset will have @43-46dB of total noise protection. The Independence with its rechargeable NiMH battery weighs 14.8 ounces. The PA 17-79, like the Freedom PA 17-76, is made in the USA at Pilot facility in Irvine, California.

“We’ve broken the barrier of a self-contained ANR headset with the introduction of the Freedom PA 17-76 last July, and now we’ve had a chance to break new ground by refining the electronics for more demanding military applications and higher noise environments” states Par Akradi, Director of Engineering at Pilot.
