Pilot USA Inc. has upgraded its line of intercoms with the addition of cell phone capability to their 200 and 400 Series of intercoms. A cell phone jack has been added to the intercom control panel so that the user can plug his cell phone directly into the intercom and make calls while still wearing their headset. In the event of an ATC transmission, the cell phone would be muted during the ATC transmission, or when the pilot keyed their Push-To-Talk switch.

The addition of this feature serves as a good back-up in case of radio failure.
